Who's Responsible? YOU ARE!

A bit short, but to the point.

We've all seen the events of today captivating us, as well as growing more and more out of control.  One of the most common words used when talking about what is happening is "who is responsible".  All of us, and I mean ALL of us, are looking for someone to blame.  Everyone is taking sides, everyone has an opinion, and everyone is pointing the finger.  One of the saddest parts is that many will not, or refuse to try and understand what they are doing or stop making excuses and take responsibility.  And there is that word.  RESPONSIBILITY.

As I watch one media outlet after another play videos of protesters doing unthinkable things and getting away with destroying property, stealing, assaulting people, and disrupting people's lives, it disturbs me to think people are ok with it.  The media lessens the impact of what is happening by using very carefully placed words.  It's as if the media wants us to believe that most of it is ok and not so bad as long as we call it what they want.  The most frequently used words is looting.  There is no other word to describe stealing but stealing.  Maybe we can use robbery, burglary, shoplifting, or maybe even theft.  But let's call it what it is.  I think looting just helps to justify what they do without holding them RESPONSIBLE for it.  There's that word again.

Being RESPONSIBLE is not something we have a choice to do or not to do.  But we choose to ignore that fact.  Either way, you will be held RESPONSIBLE for what you say and do.  Some think if you get away with something and it is never found out, then you're golden.  Not so.  In the end, God judges and holds you responsible.

Acts 17:31
For he has set a day when he will JUDGE the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”

God gives no one a free pass for being responsible for what they do.  He holds us all accountable for everything.  We will get forgiveness, absolution and grace, but don't expect to walk away and not have to answer for yourself.

With the world as it is today, we need to come to God even more.  It is the strength and peace we receive when we look to Him.
