    b (1) :  fidelity to one's promises (2) :  sincerity of intentions
2  a (1) :  belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) :  belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion
b (1) :  firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) :  complete trust
3  something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially :  a system of religious   beliefs <the Protestant faith>
on faithwithout question <took everything he said on faith>
Being faithful, having faith, faithfulness, and trust.  Wait!  Is trust out of order here?  Or does trust go right along with faith?  Of course it does.  Because without trust we would have no faith.  Without faith, there would be no need to trust.  I have faith that when I wake in the morning, the sun will rise.  I have to trust that the sun will rise in the morning.  I trust that my car will start because I have faith in the mechanic who fixed it.
But, here we are talking about the deception of faith or faith's deception.  So what does that mean?  Well, deceiving is misleading by appearances or false statements.  So faith's deception would be "faith deceives us by misleading us".  But if we have faith in God, does that mean God is deceiving us?  Are we deceiving ourselves into believing just about anything because of our faith?

Faith gives us a wonderful sense of security because we believe so much in something that we become complacent with the comfort of that security.  But we also believe anything and everything in regards to what we have faith in.  If our faith says it is true, then we believe it.  Are we being deceived by the very words of the thing we have the most faith in?  Are we trusting too much in mere words without proof?

"Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe." - St. Augustine.  After I read this quote by St. Augustine I kind of scratched my head at first.  If it is  by faith you believe, you believe because you cannot see.  Yet if faith is to believe what you cannot see, and the reward is to see what you believe, then would there be any need for faith if you can see it?  Ah, but wait!  It is the fact that we have that faith, and believe, that we can then see what it is we have faith in.  In other words, we have faith in God and all that is good in and about God and it is because we have that faith in God that we see the actual good that is God.

Being deceived by faith is quite literally being unrealistic. Because if you take faith literally, then you cannot be deceived by it.  It is you who is deceiving yourself into believing something and not faith itself.  But to believe without seeing is to believe by faith and not by logic.  Logic tells us it does not exist or that it is not possible.  Logical thinking is one of the most deceiving concepts we do have.  Logic takes a very narrow path when trying to explain something.  Therefore there is no possible chance for there to be any other explanation.  Yet faith gives us that opportunity to believe that there is something much greater than us that is much more compassionate and caring than we ourselves can create.  Faith gives us that hope that we will be ok and we are not alone in our suffering.  Have faith in God for it is He who gave us life and it is through His grace we are afforded the chance at life renewed.
